The Dyna-Tek coating chemistries adhere to most chemistries with a covalent bond. All surfaces have varying ranges of porosity and within the porosity oxygen molecules. Highly drawn and attracted to these oxygen molecules our chemistry finds even those well below the surface. Like water absorbing into a sponge, at a molecular level our coatings develop varying, interlocking paths into the pores of the substrate displacing the oxygen molecules with our chemical structure.

The result is an extremely strong bond to, and within the substrate with NO mechanical or chemical etch to the substrate. With Dyna-Tek coatings, for most surfaces just ensuring the substrate is clean is good enough.

Direct to substrate bonds have been proven on/in:

  • Steel
  • Aluminum
  • Stainless Steel
  • Invar
  • Inconel
  • Graphite
  • Foam
  • Molybdenum
  • Glass
  • Most plastics

Silicone substrates can be done as well; but requires the use of our DT-520 adhesion promoter.

FYI… THERE ARE NO FREE SILICONES in our coatings. This means ZERO transfer of silicones to molded parts. For more detail on this, please request a copy of a report by Kansas State University and their testing on this.

Adhesion = Protection. The covalent bond the coating creates is also significant towards creating outstanding protection for the surface as well because it has sealed off the pores to which attacking elements would normally find and begin reacting with the substrates.
